Inspiration Board- Living Room

I haven't shared it yet, but this past summer DH and I, with the help of mom and dad, renovated our living room.  We added crown molding and replaced the old window, door, and floor moldings and we also refurbished the bookshelves and fireplace.

Of course, a renovated room can only mean one thing—it's time to go shopping!  But!  I don't want to make the same mistake I made with our kitchen's paint color—you'll soon find out exactly how many times I painted our kitchen.  Despite not being the most patient person, I'm taking time to select furniture, and I've put together an inspiration board!

1- Becca, an Ethan Allen (EA) designer, and I worked together to come up with this floor plan.  Sometimes all you need is an outside perspective to force you out of your comfort zone and show you what else can be done with your space.

2- Ethan Allen Chair-  Once I sat on this chair I didn't want to get up!  It's oh so comfy!  We're upholstering this vintage chair with a contemporary fabric design (3) to fit both DH's—classical—and my style—modern.

4- Inspiration- This table from EA is priced over what I would pay for an end table; however, I do love it and will use it as inspiration when rummaging through Lucketts.

5-  I need a glass, or see through, lamp to sit on top of table 4 so that we don't lose the natural sunlight coming in through the window that the table will sit in front of.   I like this lamp from Pottery Barn, but I'm not sure if I'm in love with it.

6- It seems counterintuitive to cover 71-year-old hardwood floors with a huge rug, but I think a rug here is the piece that ties the room together.

7- Inspiration- Another lovely table, but overpriced.  I'm sure I can find something similar to it!

8- Ethan Allen Chair- I swear, EA does a great job of making chairs and sofas you simply do not want to get up from.  This chair, upholster in a cat friendly off-white fabric, will work great next to the renovated bookshelves.

9- Already owned!  1 of 3 pieces—the Tiffany's floor lamp and flat screen tv— we decided to keep from our original post-college furniture.  I love the statement this oversize piece makes.

10- Inspiration- I need to find an oval table to place on the right side of the sofa

11- Wall Color- Hands down Benjamin Moore makes the best blues ever!  Whether you color match it at your local hardware store or you buy it at BM, you can't go wrong with Santa Monica Blue.

What's on your inspiration board?
